Our Family Rooms

A place for families to relax and unwind.

Our Family Rooms are exclusively for families of children undergoing treatment in a nearby ward. Run by our friendly staff and volunteers, our Family Rooms are welcoming spaces where you can take time out from the clinical environment of the wards to rest, reconnect and relax.

Queensland Children’s Hospital

Take a break and be together as a family at the Ronald McDonald Family Room Queensland Children’s Hospital located on Level 2. In our inviting Family Room you’ll find a cosy lounge, a kitchenette and complimentary refreshments. The room also offers a space for children to play with toys, books, games and activities.

Gold Coast University Hospital NICU

Located on Level 3, Block D, our Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while you have an infant receiving treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you’ll find a kitchen stocked with essential items, bathroom and laundry amenities and a cosy lounge.

Gold Coast University Hospital Paediatrics

Our second Family Room at the Gold Coast University Hospital is located on Level G, Block B at the Children’s Inpatient Unit. With a kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, lounge and children’s play area, you and your family can take a well-deserved break while visiting or staying with an ill or injured child in hospital.

Am I eligible?

We want to make sure families have a home-away-from-home inside the hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our three Family Rooms are free and open to all families with children undergoing treatment.  

Are there any fees involved?

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are free of charge. Thanks to generous donations, families have a space away from the wards to recoup and simply be together.
