Ensuring ill or injured children get the best chance at education.
Our Education Program is designed to ensure that ill or injured children get the best chance at education.
The Ronald McDonald Learning Program provides students who are behind in schooling as a result of illness or injury with one-on-one tutorials with experienced teachers that are tailored to the student’s individual needs.
Our EDMed® program helps teachers to better prepare for the return of a student who has suffered an illness or injury. This free, two-hour professional development session provides teachers with a range of educational strategies and information to assist the smooth transition and integration back to school.
We are always looking for registered teachers throughout our region to teach with us. Teachers are paid on an hourly basis, and tutoring takes place at the student’s school or local community facility, or via Zoom.
Students aged 15-20 years, who have been treated at a hospital for an illness or injury and who are leaving school to undertake further study (either apprenticeship, TAFE or university) the following year can apply for the Charlie Bell Scholarship program.
The Ronald McDonald Learning Program assists school-aged children with an illness or injury to catch up on missed education following treatment and recovery.
From improving numeracy and literacy skills, to identifying learning strengths and weaknesses, we aim to make the journey back to school as smooth as possible, while also providing a much-needed confidence boost.
The program provides a suite of educational support services, including therapy sessions (where required) and one-on-one tutorials with experienced teachers that are tailored to the student’s individual needs.
Each program is tailored depending upon the child’s needs, location and family situation. Most children will receive up to four school terms of one-on-one tuition with a qualified and registered teacher, along with speech and/or occupational therapy if required.
We aim to build each child’s confidence and self-esteem in preparation for their return to the classroom. All services are free to families thanks to funding from our generous Ronald McDonald House Charities supporters.
