We’re thrilled to share something truly special – Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland has launched the Hospitality Cart Program at the Queensland Children’s Hospital! This is our first new program in over a decade, and it’s all about bringing comfort and care right to the bedside of children and families during some of their toughest moments.
As the leading paediatric hospital in Queensland and one of the largest in Australia, the Queensland Children’s Hospital is the perfect partner for this initiative. The hospital has always been a strong supporter of RMHC SEQ and the work we do to support families with ill or injured children. Now, together, we’re taking that support even further.

The Hospitality Cart Program is simple but powerful – our amazing volunteers will roll through hospital areas with a cart stocked full of essentials and little comforts. From snacks, drinks, toiletries to activity packs, these small gestures will make a big difference for families spending long hours in the hospital.
The cart will initially launch with three shifts per week – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings – with plans to grow to daily and even evening coverage. We’ll begin by focusing on outpatient areas like the Emergency Department, Short Stay, Medical Imaging and clinics, and expanding from there. This program will complement the incredible work of other hospital support organisations, ensuring families get the help they need when they need it most.
Expanding our programs is vital to meeting the growing needs of families across South East Queensland. Families often face long days at the hospital, filled with uncertainty and waiting, which can be overwhelming. By introducing new initiatives like the Hospitality Cart Program, we’re finding fresh ways to deliver comfort, reduce stress, and make those difficult days just a little easier. It’s all about evolving with the needs of the community and ensuring that no family feels alone during their child’s treatment journey.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our partners. The cart itself was kindly provided by Bencee, and ongoing stock and operations are proudly supported by Carina Leagues Club.
We cannot wait to see the impact this program brings to families at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. It’s a simple idea but one that speaks volumes about the power of community and partnership. Every smile, every moment of comfort matters, and this program is proof that small acts of kindness can create big change.
The Hospitality Cart Program relies on the kindness and dedication of volunteers to bring comfort and care to families in need. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, we’d love to have you join our team.
