Providing home cooked comfort
Dinner is an important time for families to connect. After a long day at the hospital, parents and carers who rarely have the time, funds, or energy to cook, can access a nutritious home-cooked meal through our Make A Meal program.
This initiative allows corporate partners and community fundraising groups to step into our kitchen and cook dinner for our families three nights a week.
As part of this experience, you will be preparing food for up to 100 people. This requires a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 12 people. All participants must be over 18 years old.
The Make A Meal Program works across our Herston and South Brisbane Houses:
Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane – every Tuesday
Ronald McDonald House Herston – every Wednesday
$1500 plus GST
This financial contribution helps cover the cost of your volunteering experience. It includes all the ingredients required to feed over 100 people, utensils and RMHC SEQ employees, who will assist you in the preparation and serving of food and take you on a tour of the House.
You will receive an email with an invoice within 5- 7 days after completing the booking form.
2:00pm – Arrive, sign in, House tour & induction
2:30pm – Start cooking
5:00pm – Serve Dinner/Dessert
6:00pm – Clean up
7:00pm – Book your next Make a Meal, team photo & sign out!
As part of this experience:
Choose which house you would like your team to cook at and click the button ‘schedule time with me’. You will be taken to an external booking system, where you will be asked to complete the booking form.
We will provide you with aprons and hair nets on the day. Dress code is flat closed in shoes, shirts with sleeves. Please limit the jewellery your wear by removing all watches, bracelets, dangly earing and loose rings.
Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane is located at 283 Vulture Street, South Brisbane. Ronald McDonald House Herston is located at 22 Garrick Terrace, Herston.
There is limited carparking at both locations. However, up to 2 carparks are available on request if you choose to carpool. Both locations are right next to the busway, and you can plan your trip using TransLink. In addition, you can book a Taxi or Rideshare.
